Hiren's Boot CD is a boot CD containing various diagnostic programs such as partitioning agents, system performance benchmarks, disk cloning and imaging tools, data recovery tools, MBR tools, BIOS tools, and many others for fixing various computer problems. It is a Bootable CD; thus, it can be useful even if the primary operating system cannot be booted. Hiren's Boot CD has an extensive list of software. Utilities with similar functionality on the CD are grouped together and seem redundant; however, they present choices through UI's differences and options in what they can do. Ngoài ra nó cũng hộ trợ việc nạp các file loader như Bootmgr, NTLDR, Setupldr.bin từ một partition FAT/NTFS.

Khi sử dụng với file iso, Avlgo sử dụng mô phỏng ISO dựa trên ISOEmu nên chịu ảnh hưởng của tất cả các giới hạn của ISOEmu khi sử dụng với các file iso. Như thế có nghĩa là không phải tất cả các file iso đều có thể được hỗ trợ bởi Avlgo.

Avlgomgr (Avlgo Manager 2007) là chương trình có giao diện của Avlgo. Khi sử dụng Avlgo Manager để nạp một một file image (ví dụ tên file là f4vn.iso), Avlgo Manager sẽ tự sinh ra 2 file avldr.bin và Avlgo.sys, file cấu hình menu.lst của GRUB sẽ được Avlgo dịch vào trong các file này. Avlgo Manager sẽ thêm vào boot.ini một dòng dạng như sau:
C:\Avldr.bin="Avlgo - xxxx"

Trong đó xxxx là tên file image, ví dụ trên là f4vn.iso.
Khi khởi động trên menu lựa chọn, ngoài Hệ điều hành Windows còn có thêm dòng lựa chọn Avlgo – xxxx (Ví dụ: Avlgo – f4vn.iso). Nếu lựa chọn khởi động từ lựa chọn này, máy tính sẽ nạp avldr.bin, avldr.bin sẽ gọi Avlgo.sys và nạp file f4vn.iso.

Sau khi download file rar nói trên, unrar và vào folder của chương trình, chạy file Avlgomgr.exe (chương trình không cần cài đặt), giao diện của chương trình hình:

Hình này được thu nhỏ lại. Click vào đây để xem hình phóng lớn. Hình gốc có kích thước 1024x768.

Trong ví dụ này, thử nghiệm với file iso của đĩa Acronis. Cần phải đổi tên file theo dạng 8.3, tức là tên file ít hơn hoặc bằng 8 ký tự, phần mở rộng 3 ký tự, đương nhiên là .iso. Ví dụ trên là file acronis.iso, copy file này vào mục gốc của ổ C (ổ chứa file boot.ini).
Trên hình 1, bấm vào nút Open (mũi tên mầu đỏ) và chọn file acronis.iso. Sau đó click vào nút Assemble.
Chương trình sẽ tự động sinh ra 2 file avldr.bin và Avlgo.sys và thêm vào boot.ini file dòng sau:
C:\Avldr.bin="Avlgo – acronis.iso"
Sau đó khởi động lại máy tính để thử nghiệm lựa chọn này.
